Six HTC employees convicted of betrayal of secrets - ZDNet.de

In Taiwan have been found guilty of six employees HTC . They have, according to the court reveal company secrets, accepted bribes and submitted false billings. This report, the Wall Street Journal and the Taipei Times.

Among the accused was the former Vice President of Product Design Thomas Chien. He and the five other convicts have the concept of a planned smartphone surface – presumably a revised version of HTC’s Android interface Sense – issued to third parties. This should have been the first step to establish a company for smartphone design in Taiwan and China itself.

Chien and his co-defendants received, according to the prosecutor’s office also converted some 800,000 euros in bribes and were exhibit suppliers of false invoices. The names of the three contact persons from the supply chain are not yet known.

The Taipei Times, however, has been made public to whom it is in the other convicts – namely Research Director Wu Chien-Hung, the two senior managers for design and innovation Huang Hung-yi and Huang Kuo-ching, head of the Department of Design Manufacture Hung Chung-yi and an employee named Chen Shih-tsou. The amount de penalty has not yet been determined, but according to the recently revised law on trade secrets, they face up to ten years in prison and fines ranging from converted 70,000 and 1.2 million euros. If the loss amount exceeds 1.2 million euros, the theoretical maximum penalty would even set to ten times the illegal income.

HTC’s judgment against News.com has commented: “The company expects its employees to observe the highest levels of integrity and ethics and act accordingly. The protection of intellectual property of the company, their secrets and their security are core responsibilities of all staff. The company approves any deviations from these principles. “
