HTC One: successor in the pipeline, Nokia taps February 2014 - mobiFlip.de

Nokia this week could bring about a ban on sales of the new HTC One mini in the UK and in this context an opinion of the Court was published. This includes key point with details, including probably a date for the successor to the HTC one.

The successor to the HTC one is currently known as M8 and is in the rumor mill not an unknown candidate. It is therefore obvious that HTC probably is currently in the final stages of planning and presenting the device in spring 2014, will bring to market. The current one was shown in February and just before the Mobile World Congress and just could expire next year. It at least suggests the writing of the court judgment.

HTC is bringing the verge of a successor to the One on the market. While there is still no official date of HTC, Nokia has but probably provided evidence that point to the first quarter of 2014 and quite specifically to February. HTC has the statement from Nokia incidentally not contradicted. This is probably one of the reasons then probably why the One is not affected by the ban on the sale. It is also interesting that HTC is not sure whether the successor violates the patents of Nokia. The new Microchips are HTC simply not yet known.

“The functions of the chip, the HTC has chosen (for the new model), HTC are unknown until now, so I do not know if they violate EP 024,” said Brad Lin, a witness from HTC.

HTC but will surely not take the risk, because it has understood well that the Finns seriously and the law is on their side. Nokia will see the successor to the One and HTC just needs to make sure that the flagship for 2014 does not contravene again against the same patents. The judge was actually surprised by the ignorance in HTC and found the testimony of the witness “incredible.”
