HTC may sell in the UK again smartphones! - Giga.de

I am, as Jens also quite a HTC fan . That’s why it take me not mind that I like about it and detail reports, if there is something new to the company or their products.

I also have to confess right away that the headline something sensational is designed. Although the general tenor is in the media that HTC is now allowed to sell devices again, which they previously would not have been allowed, which, however, not true. HTC could definitely still sell devices , as the sales ban only in theory was in the time since the last decision. That said, HTC had lodged nor the possibility appeal against the decision . This they have done apparently and were now also successful.

way: HTC had imposed themselves not to import any other devices to the UK , to clarify the legal situation. It could therefore well have been a stop of sales, this would have been but then versursacht from HTC itself. To the court Maybe we also wanted to show his good will.

The statement from HTC reads as follows:

“HTC is delighted did the Court of Appeals Has granted a stay on the injunction against our products. We will immediately resume shipment of all of our devices into the UK, including the Entire HTC One family. Similarly, our customers feel confident shoulderstand In Their ability to promote and sell all HTC devices, “

There it is again in black and white: Deliveries to the UK to be resumed, no prohibition on sale

.

The reasons provides our source unfortunately not with. Already in early December, however, had argued that a ban would have worse consequences than the alleged infringement of the patent HTC. In addition wüden future models then probably not infringe the patent. Even then, the judge could follow this argument and apparently he has now decided all for it.

HTC also says:

“Even though we plan to aggressively appeal the decision of validity Nokia’s EP 0998024 patent, we will continue to work with our suppliers on chip alternative solutions to Ensure minimal disruption to our business in the future.”

The source also does not indicate whether Nokia still has the opportunity to challenge the verdict. We will of course keep you up to date.

I find the court’s decision correctly. What do you think?
