Bad news for owners of HTC X and HTC X + . For a long time was considered unclear if HTC will provide its flagship smartphones from 2012 even with an update to a newer Android version 4.2 as – well, the Dutch branch HTC Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or even 4.4 KitKat a clear rejection issued.

So far it was just as unlikely, if HTC X and X + is yet to be updated to Android 4.3 – in the fall of a HTC employee promised an XDA user by e-mail, however, that you at least check if the update to the devices still going well and that you can update with a positive test may still nachreiche.

on Twitter asked a Dutch users now with HTC for new information about an update to its HTC X + and received a sad answer:

sense According to German: The One X + remains on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5. Result of the evaluation process at HTC was so obvious that a newer version of Android is not running satisfactorily and an update of the One X + so that makes no sense. Needless to say, this also applies to the somewhat weaker sister model HTC X with probability bordering on certainty. Too bad, because that even Android 4.4 can run on Tegra 3 devices still usable, proves the Nexus 7 (2012).

particular, the One X + is the annoying because the device was presented on 02.10.2012, making it just a little more than 15 months old. Such occurrences pour water on the mills of fragmentation critics, even if this is sometimes the subject somewhat bloated in his blatancy.

One X / X remains + users to install via a custom ROM like the CyanogenMod. CM 10.2 variants based on Android 4.3 is available in the form of nightly builds for both the One X and the X +.
