Galaxy Gear: Samsung Smart Watch is smarter
by Matthias / / 22/01/2014 16:55
At IFA 2013, Samsung has introduced its first Smart Watch called Galaxy Gear. Although the intelligent clock can do much, the exclusivity for selected Samsung devices is not exactly a compelling selling point. How resourceful hobbyists have found in the XDA-Developers forum, the Galaxy Gear works with some Tricksereie but also with the Google Nexus 5 or HTC One.
All you need are logically a Google Nexus One HTC or 5, the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the APK file of the Galaxy Gear Manager and the gearmanagerstub.apk. The latter installed the first user on the smartphone of choice. This is followed by some more APKs, which in turn hide themselves in the APK file from the Gear Manager. To get at this, you open the APK file from the Gear Manager with a simple unpacker like 7-Zip or WinRAR.
to install APK files are located in the folder assets / preInstalledApks within the Gear Manager.apk.â? ¨ This Android to permit the installation, you have the hook in the security settings of the smartphone “Allow Installation of Apps and unknown sources” must be set at. However, the installation fails, according to the discoverer of this trick with some files missing, for example when SAMusicProvider_signed.apk and SAWeatherProvider_signed.apk. Subsequently, it is still necessary to install the Galaxy Gear managers themselves. Once this is done, the Galaxy Gear should mate with the smartphone. However, currently available S Voice, and the functions for which the installation failed, not available.
now missing the ATNManager 1.2.2, which pushes all notifications on the Galaxy Gear. Thus, the push notifications arrive, a corresponding authorization of ATNManagers under settings, security, notification, access is required. Then the tool ultimately allows the configuration of displayed notifications. Root privileges for the steps mentioned here incidentally not required.
Unfortunately, we did not perform Galaxy Gear available at the above steps and try out the collaboration between Smart Watch and HTC Google Nexus One or 5. About Feedback in the comments whether the instructions from the XDA-Developers forum works, we’re looking forward.
