HTC threatens ban on sale in the UK - AnandTech

The British High Court of Justice has ruled that HTC with a mini built-in One and One chip, the European patent EP0998024 by Nokia with the title “ modulator for a transmitter and a mobile station “injured. Now HTC One mini threatens from 6 December 2013, a sales ban in the UK.

This is evident from the court’s opinion issued by the court, which also explains why the HTC one, despite the also built into the device chips imposed by the cessation of sales remains for the time being spared. So could the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer to the competent Judge Richard Arnold convince them that a ban against the larger smartphone in the UK HTC would harm more than Nokia would be harmed by the infringement.

Another reason for the current decision, the judge argues that the HTC, and more specifically in the first quarter of next year in February or March 2014 will introduce a new smartphone. In order to ban the sale of HTC One of the judge’s opinion would by no longer associated with overly large losses for the company. Known as “M8″ designated instrument is treated as the successor to the HTC one for several weeks, but reliable information concerning the equipment of the device are not yet available.

The Finnish company, which also calls for financial compensation, is pleased with the court’s decision. HTC have already stopped all shipments of affected products with the exception of the HTC One to the UK, Nokia announced over the Wall Street Journal .

same time, HTC is ready to fight and has the judgment claims to have been challenged. “ We have submitted an urgent request for the revision ,” HTC said. In the meantime, work with their own chip suppliers “ alternative solutions ,” said the Taiwanese company further. If HTC’s appeal against the judgment, however, be rejected, shall be as given the Wall Street Journal according to all the products in question, thus the HTC one, be withdrawn from the market.

Nokia has begun to file patent lawsuits against HTC last year. Currently, more than 50 complaints of the Finns against HTC in the world are pending. So far HTC was found in four cases of patent infringement guilty.
