HTC One Mini: The group fears the transfer of know-how to competitors
Taipei – Three high-ranking developers from the Taiwanese smartphone specialist HTC have been arrested on suspicion of industrial espionage. The Group’s normal business was going on, the company said. The Vice Chief of the Research Division, Thomas Chien Chih-lin as well as the research and development director Wu Chien-hung, were arrested on Sunday. A third manager was again set at liberty on bail.
According to the court in Taipei HTC had complained in August about three employees. HTC declined to comment on the process and stressed in a message only: “The protection of property companies and the maintenance and defense of intellectual property rights are key responsibilities for each employee.”
three developers should have intended to cooperate with Chinese companies and to take technology from HTC, the CNA news agency reported, citing the prosecutor.
HTC was a pioneer in the smartphone business, but recently lost market share. The Taiwanese are far behind the market leaders Samsung and Apple. Last year, the sales were in a booming market returns.
