like you have look at my name (or had) I have a HTC 8X. Performance, feel, mileage, display were good. In addition, it acts thanks to the flattened sides very very thin for a title=”Windows Phone”> WP . Sadly it does not swim very well and so had a new phone for a pool visit here 
I just then decided for Lumia 925 and must say it is worlds apart. Almost all the good settings and apps on title=”Windows Phone”> WP are excl of or for Nokia (-> Nokia Mix Radio, free offline navigation and space-saving offline maps, Nokia per Cam, Cinema graph , Here Transit, many background settings, etc.)
Especially the camera app (identical to the Lumia in 1020) is just great. So I was the HTC Nokia fan and can only recommend the same thing to you actually try.
However, the HTC 8X already a pretty nice model and the Nokia 820, 920, 1020 was by comparison quite bulky and heavy. Stop Something cheaper than a 925 Well, the choice is yours
In any case makes title=”Windows Phone 8″> WP8 real fun.
