HTC daughter fails in Mannheim with patent lawsuit against Nokia - Heise Newsticker

The company could not convince the judge that the built-in Nokia smartphones Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm, the European Patent 0797181 ( Hardware assist for YUV data format conversion to software MPEG decoder ) is violated. The invention describes a chip supporting the CPU in decoding MPEG data. For infringement of the U.S. patent S3 version of this had happened in the United States against Apple. This method, however, were set in 2012, after the two rivals had agreed to a licensing agreement.

Germany beginning September 2013, Nokia had averted another lawsuit HTC for infringement of a patent. Also in this case it was a first instance decision of the LG Mannheim, against HTC may file an appeal before the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe.
