  • HTC One S: No update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or higher

    • The HTC one S is not an update to Android 4.2, or also get this confirmed to the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer engadget.com. Also, an update to the user interface Sense there is no more for the One S. Thus, the manufacturer shall provide a facelift after only one and a half years. The reason for this is probably the version HTC One S C2.

    While owners of the current top model, the HTC one currently receiving an update to Android 4.2, users of the previous model HTC One S will go empty. The model will get an update on Android 4.1 out according to the manufacturer. HTC confirmed this in writing to the U.S. technology blog Engadget. One reason, however, the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer is guilty.


    HTC One S C2 incompatible

    decisive for the decision could have been the model variant HTC One S C2. The model introduced HTC in July 2012 on the market. The variant corresponds to the HTC One S is however equipped with an older processor (Snapdragon Snapdragon S3 instead of S4). HTC was forced to take this step because Qualcomm supplier could not supply enough chips to meet the high demand. For now over two years old Snapdragon S3 chipset, but there is no driver for Android 4.2, so HTC might update only a portion of the outstanding One S to Android 4.2, so HTC probably decided to discontinue the model of care completely.

    The HTC One S was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2012 and came in early April last year for 499 euros in German trading. Currently, the model is still traded online for around 300 euros.
