eingeklagte Nokia protection law EP1579613 entitled “Method and apparatus whereby a mobile station can adjust their revision level on the basis of network protocol revision level” and describes a technique that is not relevant standard, according to Mueller. HTC own a license for Nokia’s standard relevant patents, but not for the rest of the intellectual property of the Finns.

“Nokia is pleased that the Mannheim Regional Court has ruled today that HTC products violate Nokia’s patent EP1579613, which allows in older networks the use of advanced mobile devices,” Müller quoted from a statement by Nokia. “The ruling allows us to enforce an injunction against the import and sale of all infringing HTC products in Germany, as well as to seek damages for past violations.”

HTC again announced to challenge the judgment of the LG Mannheim. There continue to serve as the validity of the rights in question. However, a decision of the Federal Patent Court is still pending. “The function that should have been hurt, is redundant and is not needed anymore in Germany,” HTC told, according to the blog entry. It should also be a modification in the works to remove the superfluous technology from HTC’s products.

Nokia launched its lawsuit against HTC series in May, 2012. The legal disputes concern now more than 50 patents and employ courts in seven countries. There is no end in sight, but Nokia accuses his rival before still to use as freeloaders its technologies.
