Specifications
Comparing the bare main technical data of the cameras of the HTC one, the Sony Xperia Z and the Samsung Galaxy S4 notice that the HTC phone offers a much lower resolution than the two competitors. The reason is that HTC has optimized its camera to shooting in low light.
Instead of distributing 13 “small” megapixels on the already tight image sensor of a smartphone camera, HTC has decided to be a few here, to place greater megapixels. As a result, more light on the individual image points, which has advantages when shooting in the dark. More on this later.

more megapixels but do not automatically mean better photos. In this respect, the camera of the HTC one is not per se worse than the competitors. The resolution is still sufficient easy to draw pictures on an A4-size page. The Xperia Z and the Galaxy S4 provide the full 13 megapixel resolution of only 4:3. Who wants to shoot in 16:9, must be 9.6 or 9 megapixels satisfied.
Also, we see that HTC’s smartphone has a lower focal length and a wider aperture. By the lower focal length photographer can add a little more of a squeeze on the picture scene.
